thats because the butt of the cat is higher than the hens so if it was to lay eggs it will break where as the butt of the chicken is more lower so it wont break.so evolution has it that development of the best kind of style suited for continuing their species.
It is an evolution process. But in the recent times, the commercial way has been evolved as turned as, The hens lay eggs only to serve omlets to consumers :(
